The Journey Begins on Rhodes – Kallithea and the Calm East Coast
The journey starts on the east coast of Rhodes, in Kallithea – an area known for its clear waters, relaxed atmosphere and convenient location close to both the beach and the city. It’s the perfect place to ease into your holiday after arrival.
Days in Kallithea are ideal for beach time and relaxation, but also for excursions. Rhodes Town is within easy reach and invites you to explore its UNESCO-listed Old Town, filled with medieval alleys, small squares and local tavernas. If you want to discover more of the island, beaches, villages and scenic viewpoints are all close at hand.
Onward to Symi – Where Time Slows Down
After your stay in Kallithea, it’s time for a change of pace. From Rhodes Town, you take the ferry to Symi, a small island just over an hour away. Even the approach to the island is an experience in itself – pastel-colored houses rise along the slopes surrounding the harbor, creating an almost cinematic first impression.
Symi – Greek Small-Town Charm in Pastel Colors
Symi is best enjoyed at a slow and unhurried pace. Life here revolves around simple pleasures, gentle strolls and moments of calm. Gialos Harbor is the heart of the island, lined with small cafés and tavernas where fishing boats bob quietly in the water.
Walk up to Chorio above the harbor and you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over the sea and the town below. Swimming opportunities are plentiful – from rocky swimming spots and small coves to beaches reached by water taxi. Evenings are best spent by the quay, with a cool drink in hand as the sun slowly sets behind the mountains.
Symi is not just an island you visit – it’s a place that stays with you long after you return home.
Ending in Rhodes Town – A Smooth and Lively Finale
After the peaceful days on Symi, the ferry takes you back to Rhodes. The journey ends with a final night in Rhodes Town, making your departure easy and stress-free.
There’s time for a last walk along the city walls, shopping in the narrow streets, a swim at the beach or a farewell dinner at one of the city’s restaurants. A well-balanced ending that feels both relaxed and thoughtfully planned.
